Carlos Alcaraz Shuts Down Claims Jannik Sinner Is Predictable

Carlos Alcaraz showed some respect for Jannik Sinner following their US Open title clash as the Spanish tennis star shut down the claim that his Italian rival was “predictable.”

Although Sinner – who was the top-seeded player at this year’s US Open – didn’t lose in straight sets to Alcaraz in the final, the feeling was that the Spaniard controlled things from start to finish during his 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-4 win. A couple of weeks earlier, the Spanish tennis star was also 5-0 up on the Italian in the Cincinnati Masters final before the match ended with a retirement.

Overall, Alcaraz has won four of his five matches played against Sinner this year. Overall, the new world No. 1 leads their head-to-head 10-5.

In his post-US Open final presser, the Spaniard was asked whether Sinner’s game became predictable to him.

“I wouldn’t say I read his game, that he was predictable… I watch a lot of his matches… I think it is unbelievable what he’s doing,” the new world No. 1 responded.

Sinner declared his tennis against Alcaraz ‘predictable’

The Italian, who is now ranked at No. 2 in the world, didn’t hold back on his US Open final performance as he slammed it as “too predictable.”

“I was very predictable today on court. He did many things, he changed up the game. That’s also his style of how he plays. Now it’s going to be on me if I want to make changes or not. That’s definitely [what] we are going to work on. I’m trying to be more prepared for the next match that I will play against him,” the 24-year-old said.

After making that one clear, Sinner even stated that he “might even lose some matches from now” but that he was looking at the bigger picture and determined to become “less predictable.”
