Ken Jennings and Matt Damon just won $1 million, much to Jimmy Kimmel’s dismay.
Jennings, along with trivia partner Damon, won the grand prize when they correctly answered the 15th and final question on the July 30 episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
The duo won the money for Water.org, Damon’s nonprofit that helps bring clean water to communities in need. As the confetti dropped in celebration, Damon told Jennings this would reach 200,000 people through the charity.
“I’m begrudgingly going to shake your hand,” Kimmel, 57, jokingly told Damon, 54, as they held the oversized check alongside Jennings, 51.
Kimmel and Damon’s playful “feud” started in 2005 when Kimmel made a playful dig at Damon on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and has been going strong ever since.

This week’s episode began with Jennings and Damon only having two questions left in the game.
The $500K question read: “With another career path already established, who got his first taste of the entertainment world when he entered a Steve Martin look-alike contest?”
Possible answers for this question included Dr. Oz, Jerry Springer, Bill Nye or Anthony Bourdain.
After going back and forth a bit, Jennings and Damon decided to use the “As the Host” lifeline.
“I know the answer to this one,” Kimmel said, pointing to Nye as the correct answer.
Jennings and Damon trusted Kimmel, and the host gloated that it was he who answered correctly.
The $1 million question read: “Which of these words is often used to describe one of the most beautiful auditory effects on Earth: the sound made by leaves of trees when wind blows through them?”
Possible answers included Apricity, Petrichor, Susurrus or Eudaemonia.
Jennings was excited that a word that popped into his head before the potential answers were shown was close to one of the four: Susurrus. He also noted that he knew what Petrichor meant, saying it was “that smell after rain falls … that rainy smell.”
Deciding to play it safe, the duo opted to use their 50:50 lifeline, which left two answers on the board — Petrichor or Susurrus — which made them feel comfortable going with Jennings’ first thought.
Kimmel dubbed this “the least dramatic million-dollar moment in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire history,” because they were correct.

Jennings’ Millionaire journey began in the season 4 premiere last week.
In the July 23 episode, Kimmel introduced Jennings as possibly “the greatest game-show contestant of all time,” joking, “He won so many games on Jeopardy!, they asked him to host the show.”
Jennings, who holds the record for the most consecutive games won (74) and the highest winnings in regular-season play ($2,520,700), took over as host of Jeopardy! in 2021 after the death of longtime host Alex Trebek the previous year.
Jennings admitted he was “a little stressed out” to be there, and Kimmel noted that Jennings told him at a party that Millionaire was harder than Jeopardy!.
“I mean, Jeopardy! has tough stuff, but on Jeopardy!, if you don’t know a particular clue, you can just hang back and wait for the next one,” Jennings explained. “Here, a miss really can stop you.”

It was at this point that Damon walked out as Jennings’ surprise partner.
“This is like if you challenged me to a pick-up basketball game and I showed up at the park with Michael Jordan, ’cause this dude is the Michael Jordan of trivia,” Damon told Kimmel of Jennings.
Kimmel disagreed, firing back, “I look at it as if Michael Jordan showed up with a hemorrhoid.”
After Damon exclaimed that he finally made it on Kimmel’s show, Kimmel — who called this a “betrayal” from Jennings — shouted back that this wasn’t his show, referring to Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
“I’m not on your stupid show, I’m on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” Damon replied. “That’s way better.”
