In a deeply emotional tribute, the Robertson family shared one of the final photos of Phil and Kay Robertson—taken just one day before Phil’s death.
The image, released by Lisa Robertson, Phil’s daughter-in-law, reflects the enduring love between the Duck Dynasty patriarch and his wife of nearly 60 years.
A Marriage Transformed by Faith
Phil Robertson’s journey from rebellion to redemption has been well documented. Once a man consumed by drinking, drugs, and infidelity, Phil’s life was radically changed after coming to faith in Jesus Christ.
His wife, Kay Robertson, remained steadfast, even after being kicked out of their home with her children when she gave her life to Christ.
Their story—told in part through the faith-based film The Blind—resonated with millions because it highlighted the healing power of forgiveness and the redemptive grace of God.
Together, they rebuilt a family rooted in faith, creating a powerful legacy that continues through their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Final Years Filled With Health Struggles
In the months leading to Phil’s passing, he battled both a painful blood disorder and Alzheimer’s disease, undergoing multiple back surgeries.
Kay, too, faced serious health setbacks, including a fall that resulted in an infected leg and extended hospital stays. At one point, the couple was separated for weeks while Kay underwent rehabilitation.
Their sons, Al and Jase Robertson, shared on the Unashamed podcast that even during their time apart, the couple remained connected through FaceTime. “The spark that comes in their eyes when they see one another is really touching,” said Jase. “To be honest, that’s dad’s only consistent north star—mom.”
Eventually, the family moved Phil and Kay into an assisted living facility to receive full-time care. Once reunited, Phil’s spirits visibly lifted in his wife’s presence.
The Final Photo: A Legacy of Love
On May 24, 2025, just one day before Phil passed away, Lisa Robertson shared a touching image that has since moved thousands.
The photo shows Phil and Kay holding hands, with Kay gripping her husband’s hand tightly while he lay in bed—symbolizing a lifetime of resilience, faith, and unconditional love.
Lisa captioned the image:
“Phil & Kay Robertson – 5-24-25. Almost 65 years of dedication to each other. There were a few years that it was one-sided. Then God… He changed them & their future! & their Legacy lives on!”
This final gesture held a deeper meaning. Phil had previously shared in May 2024 that the couple held hands every night before falling asleep.
“When Miss Kay comes to bed at night, she sticks her hand out from under the covers, I squeeze it, and she squeezes back. We do it every night, no matter what.”
His advice to others was clear:
“Hold your wife’s hand. Honor your wife and mama. Be thankful for the women who never stop praying for their families.”
